Lukács Márton Örs

pianist/composer/music producer

Lukács Márton Örs is a pianist/keyboardist, composer and music producer from Miercurea Ciuc (Romania), currently living in Budapest, Hungary.

Born in 2000, he started taking piano lessons at the age of 5, then went to the local school of arts from 2007 to 2019 learning piano and cello. From 2020, he studied jazz composition at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, graduating in 2023.

Also in 2023 he won 1st prize at the Langnau Jazz Nights International Piano Competition, 2nd and 3rd prizes at the South London Jazz Orchestra's and the Hungarian Jazz Federation's composition competitions.

In 2025, he received the "Remarkable Musician" special award at the Jazz in the Park Competition in Cluj.

Márton creates music across genres, from jazz pieces for small and large ensembles, contemporary classical pieces for piano and different instrumentations to electronic music, while frequently combining the above.

From 2017 to 2022, he was a founding member of the band Ineffable. With them, they released two albums (Neon in 2019 and New Dimension in 2021), had a symphonic concert with the State Philharmonic of Târgu Mureș (with Márton's instrumentations), played with Grammy award-winning pianist Bill Laurance, among others.

Márton started working on his first solo nujazz album in 2021 as a meeting point of his interests in jazz, improvisation and electronic music, both as a producer and performing artist. It was released as “Morph” in 2022. After two singles - the more piano-oriented "Still" and "Scribble" -, his latest album "Canvas" was released in November 2023.

In 2024 the released a two-song single called "Bounds".

For the live realization of the project (Lukács Márton Live Set), when not in solo, he is often joined bydrummer Debreci Norbert as an improvisational live-act duo. As one of the first Live Set concerts, they performed at the 2023 Bucharest Jazz Festival.

In 2023, he formed the Lukács Márton Trio with Siklós Kornél on drums and Suke Sándor on double bass. Their first album "Still Searching" was released in early 2024. In that year the project became part of the Talentum Hungaricum programme, while in 2025 they were part of the Müpa Jazz Showcase finals, where they received three special prizes. Their latest release is also from that year, an EP titled "Bookshelf".

Being a pianist, Márton's first compositions are written for piano. Two such collections were published in 2023 by Universal Edition: 6 Etudes and Sketches. He also has pieces written for choir and smaller chamber ensembles, the next published piece being a string quartet.

His latest work, "Preludes" was published in 2024.

In his works, Márton explores different contemporary rhythmic and harmonic ideas, incorporating his modern jazz experience with an experimenter and improvisational approach to music creation.

Márton can also be seen in many other projects too as a musician or producer, mainly in the Budapest jazz scene, but in international collaborations as well.

In 2025, as a musician and arranger, he collaborated with singer A-C Leonte on her album "NOW to NOW", the first spoken-word jazz release in Romania. In this year he also released albums with two other bands he's a part of, "Eclectic Dreams" by Lawn Dogs and "Playground EP" by Tamás Jurisits Group.
